Tips
Play with a clean sound or very light distortion
Settings
Settings
  • Density for piano 1 is a few notes per bar, and at 3 it starts to get busy - 2 is somewhere in between and usually works well.
  • Polyphony: For piano, as in Density
  • Drums - experiment with Density and Polyphony, depending on the rhythmic feel.
Compose Mode
Compose Mode
  • The longer the song, the longer it will take to generate the parts - think about starting with something familiar that's two or three minutes long to get a feel for how it works. Mix and match parts for different combinations of piano, bass, and drums. Try other instruments and generate new parts.
  • Or try dragging and dropping a track into the DAW and having it play through a different MIDI instrument setting (e.g., take a piano output and have it played by horns in a different track).
  • Find a melody line you like in one section, and copy and paste it into other sections as a recurring part.
Live Mode
Live Mode
  • Don't feel like you have to play a chord progression that takes 8 bars to complete - you can play a four-bar chord progression twice, or play a two-bar chord progression four times.
  • If you would prefer not to play along with a metronome, you can use a drum pattern. This also lets you explore different drum styles to accompany your performance in Live mode.
  • Continue playing the progression until the outputs kick in. If you're unhappy with the initial outputs, keep playing the chord progression and hit Regenerate, and repeat until you're happy with the outputs.
  • If you want to solo over the chord progression as is, just start once the output instruments start playing; their accompaniment will loop automatically.
